Alexei Navalny gave the money received by the Boris Nemtsov Foundation to the families of political prisoners

Alexei Navalny won the Boris Nemtsov Foundation Prize in February 2021. Navalny decided to donate the money to the families of political prisoners.
The money will go to the relatives of Pavel Zelensky, an operator of the Anti-Corruption Foundation convicted of calling for extremism for two tweets about the self-immolation of journalist Irina Slavina. Zelenski was sentenced to 2 years in prison.

The second recipient of the money was the relatives of Andrei Borovikov. He was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for reposting a Rammstein video in VKontakte.

The last recipients will be the families of Vladislav Mordasov and Yan Sidorov. They were detained outside the government building in the Rostov region, where they picketed with placards saying “Give the land back to the fire victims” and “Government must resign. They were sentenced to 6.5 years in prison.
