The former governor of Khabarovsk Krai, Sergei Furgal, was charged with organizing a criminal association.
According to the investigation, Furgal created a criminal group that, between 2004 and 2005, attempted to murder Alexander Smolsky and also reprisals against businessmen Yevgeny Zorey and Oleg Bulatov.
Sergei Furgal was arrested in the summer of 2020 and has been in pre-trial detention since then. Furgal denies guilt.
