The European Court of Human Rights has started considering complaints of Ukraine and the Netherlands against Russia in the case of the MH17 crash in 2014.

A representative of the Netherlands, Lisbeth van Heijst, said that the passengers of the flight were under Russian jurisdiction at the time of their deaths because the country “exercised effective control” over the territory.

Russia’s representative Mikhail Vinogradov said that Russia did not and does not influence the situation in Donbass.

The Boeing 777-200ER was a scheduled flight MH17 between Amsterdam and Kuala Lumpur and was shot down in eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014
