French President Emmanuel Macron headed to Moscow to discuss the crisis around Ukraine with Vladimir Putin.

Macron believes that the West can make a deal with Russia that would prevent a military conflict. He also noted that Russia’s actions are “not aimed at Ukraine, but at clarifying the rules with NATO and the EU”.

Earlier, Macaron had already spoken to Putin three times by phone about the situation around Ukraine and Russia’s demands for security guarantees.

On Tuesday, the French leader will visit Kiev.
