Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made an appeal to the nation following Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision to recognize the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics.

“We are on our own land. We are not afraid of anything or anyone. We don’t owe anyone anything. And we will not give anything to anyone. And we are sure of that. Because it’s not February 2014, it’s February 2022. Another country, another army. One goal – peace in Ukraine.”Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Zelensky stressed that Ukraine’s borders will remain as recognized by the international community, “despite the statements of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, Putin signed decrees recognizing the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DNR and LNR) on the evening of February 21.
