Russian troops blockaded Kiev from the west side

Russian troops have blockaded Kiev from the west, the Russian Defense Ministry has reported. According to the ministry, the main forces of airborne troops have joined Russian airborne units at the Gostomel airfield on the outskirts of Kiev. The airfield, according to the Defense Ministry, has been seized by Russian servicemen.

Kiev mayor Vitaly Klitschko said that the city had entered the defense phase. According to Klitschko, the Ukrainian army is defending around the country’s largest city.

Residents of Kiev, especially the Obolonsky district, where fighting was already recorded today, Klitschko asked them not to leave their homes or shelters and to stock up on food, water and basic necessities.
