On February 28, reports of rocket and artillery shelling of Kharkiv began to come in droves.

Video clips shot by local residents appeared on social networks

Anton Gerashchenko, an advisor to Ukraine’s interior minister, said that the rocket attacks on Kharkiv on Monday morning resulted in “dozens of people killed and hundreds wounded.” He did not name the source of his figures. Later, the city’s mayor, Igor Terekhov, said that a woman was reportedly killed and 16 other locals were wounded.

The day before, military equipment had already entered Kharkiv, but the city remains under the control of the Ukrainian army.
