Tverskoy court of Moscow banned the work of Meta in Russia, recognizing the organization as extremist. The ban will not apply to the messenger WhatsApp.

The hearing was held at the suit of the Prosecutor General’s Office, which claimed that the social networks Facebook and Instagram disseminated extremist materials.

In addition, the General Prosecutor’s Office insisted that in the social networks Meta published calls to participate in mass uncoordinated rallies and calls for violence against Russian citizens.

The company was prohibited from opening offices in Russia and conducting any commercial activities.

Representatives of Meta denied the plaintiff’s claims. The company’s lawyer, Viktoria Shakina, said the company’s rules prohibit calls for violence against Russian citizens.
The company is against Russophobia, calls for genocide and other types of violence.
