U.S. to provide medium and long-range missile defense systems to Ukraine – CNN

The United States will announce this week new military assistance to Ukraine in the form of medium-range and long-range missile defense systems, CNN reported , citing a person familiar with the matter.

According to the channel, we are talking about an advanced medium-range and long-range surface-to-air missile defense system.

The source also said that, in response to requests from Ukrainian forces, other military assistance is likely to be announced soon, which includes additional artillery ammunition and counter-battery radars.

Last week it was reported that the American M142 HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems arrived in Ukraine and started working. A video of the application of the system was published by the Ukraine Weapons Tracker project. The authenticity of The Insider video was confirmed by analysts from the Conflict Intelligence Team.

Earlier, Biden, in his column for The New York Times, said that the United States would help its allies in Europe to abandon Russian energy resources and supply Ukraine with “more advanced missile systems,” but would not allow Ukraine to “shell territories outside the country’s borders.” The United States does not want a "war between NATO and Russia," he said.

Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev reacted to this with a threatening remark: “Reasonable! Otherwise, when attacking our cities, the Russian Armed Forces would have fulfilled their threat and struck at the centers of these criminal decisions. Some of them are not located in Kyiv at all. What's next, no need to explain.
