The counterintelligence service of the Security Service of Ukraine has detained an assistant to a deputy from the Servant of the People party on charges of collaborating with Russian intelligence.
The detainee was charged with treason. The SBU does not name him.
According to the prosecution, the deputy, using his status and connections, regularly transmitted intelligence to Moscow regarding international cooperation, the internal political course of Ukraine and the course of the anti-terrorist operation in Donbass. For this, according to investigators, every month he received from the Russian special services a reward in the amount of 1.5 to 4 thousand dollars.
According to Ukrayinska Pravda, the treason suspect was an assistant to MP Yuriy Zdebsky, who fought in the Donbass in 2014-2016 and has the rank of colonel.
According to investigators, during his trip to Moscow, the deputy was recruited by a staff member of the 9th department of the 5th FSB service, Yuri Vodolazky (or Vodolazhsky), the newspaper writes. The assistant to the people's deputy was in touch with the deputy head of the 9th department of the Department of Operational Information of the 5th FSB service Dmitry Zubarev, the SBU believes.
