The prosecutor asked for 7 years in prison to Mundep Oleksiy Gorinov, who called the war in Ukraine a war during a meeting of deputies

At a meeting of the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow, the prosecutor requested seven years in a general regime colony for the municipal deputy of the Krasnoselsky District, Alexei Gorinov, who is accused of spreading fake news about the actions of the Russian Armed Forces (part 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). It is reported by Mediazona.

At a meeting of the council of deputies, Gorinov said that it was necessary to stop the war in Ukraine and withdraw Russian troops from there. Together with Gorinov, his colleague from the municipality Elena Kotenochkina, who left Russia, is involved in the case. She was arrested in absentia.

The investigation believes that the deputies used their official position to spread false information about the Russian military.

Gorinov has been in jail since April. The Council of Deputies of the Krasnoselsky district of Moscow and the apartment of Alexei Gorinov were searched on April 26.

On April 27, RusNews correspondent Maria Ponomarenko was sent to a pre-trial detention center for two months on the same case. The journalist was detained on April 24 in St. Petersburg, where she moved from Barnaul at the end of March. On April 25, a search was conducted in her Barnaul apartment.

The case was initiated because of Ponomarenko's March 17 post about the Mariupol theater destroyed by Russian troops. According to Sota, the IP address of the author of the post is not indicated in the case file, so “Maria's involvement in the publications is proved by a certificate written by the police.”

Ponomarenko faces up to 10 years in prison. She has two minor daughters who are in her full custody.
