During the war, Russian troops caused damage to Nikolaev in the amount of ₴633 million ($21.4 million). This was announced by the mayor of the city Alexander Senkevich.
According to him, now the city is partially damaged or completely destroyed:
- 48 educational institutions
- 42 public utilities
- 15 cultural institutions
- 12 healthcare institutions
- 9 institutions of physical culture and sports
- 3 institutions of social protection
- 28 other civilian objects
- 536 private houses, 36 of which were destroyed to the ground
- 409 high-rise buildings, 5 of which are not subject to restoration.
Senkevich also reported on civilian casualties. According to him, during the war, 121 residents of Nikolaev died, including 1 child. 535 people were injured of varying severity, including 6 children.
From the very beginning of the war, Nikolaev has been regularly subjected to Russian shelling. So, on June 22, 7 missiles were fired at the city, and on July 2 – 12. “In the vicinity, they again fired cluster shells from the Smerch MLRS, and the type of missile systems that hit targets in the city has not yet been determined,” Senkevich said on July 2.
