Some Vkusno-i Totka restaurants will not have French fries, as well as rustic potatoes, due to the fact that last year in Russia “became a poor harvest” for the varieties used by the restaurants. RBC writes about this with reference to the press service of the company.
According to the press service, over the past eight years, the company has focused on Russian suppliers and purchased products from them.
“This is due to the fact that 2021 in Russia has become a lean year for potato varieties, which are used for the production of french fries in the enterprises of the network. Over the past eight years, the company has focused on Russian suppliers and purchased products from them. In addition, it became impossible to import from markets that could become temporary suppliers of potatoes for enterprises in Russia.”
Potatoes will appear in full on the menu at the beginning of the next harvest year, in the fall of 2022, the company added. At the same time, they predict that difficulties await other market players as well.
