The ex-candidate for the Berdsk City Council was charged with “fake news” because of a post about the destroyed Borodyanka

In Berdsk, an independent ex-candidate for municipal deputies Kirill Levchenko opened a criminal case on "fakes" about the Russian army. He announced this in his Telegram channel.

As Levchenko writes, he was prosecuted because of an Instagram post dated March 5. In it, the oppositionist shared a short video with the BBC with footage from Borodianka destroyed by Russian shelling. The video also contained a quote from President Vladimir Putin that Russia "attacks only military targets, civilians will not be harmed."

“For questions still not imprisoned? Who unleashed this situation? Which fascists plunged 44 million people into a humanitarian catastrophe? Whose bombs are destroying the houses of civilians? Who drove the children into the basements? In what bunker is the Nazi hiding, who gave the order to destroy the country? Levchenko wrote in a post.

According to the politician, this post is “one of the most neutral” on his Instagram.

“There are no statements, only a copter flying over Borodyanka, a quote from Putin and my questions. This means that the Reich is so weak that it is even afraid of this, ”Levchenko wrote in his Telegram channel.

The parents of the politician, as well as his mother-in-law and father-in-law, were summoned for interrogation as witnesses in the case. Levchenko himself left Russia with his wife.

“My wife is next to me, not in Russia. But our already very elderly mothers and fathers are there. And mine even live in another region, with Alina in the village. But suddenly they saw how their 39-year-old son and son-in-law printed discrediting the bombing of Ukraine,” the oppositionist added.

In 2021, Levchenko ran as an independent candidate for the Berdsk City Duma. However, the election commission refused to register his candidacy because of a letter from the Ministry of Justice about his involvement in the headquarters of Alexei Navalny in Novosibirsk, recognized as an extremist organization in Russia.

Earlier today, under the same article (Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code), the Mundep of the Krasnoselsky District of Moscow, Alexei Gorinov , was sentenced to seven years in a penal colony. According to investigators, on March 15, during a meeting of the Council of Deputies, the politician made a number of statements "containing data about the RF Armed Forces that do not correspond to reality." Gorinov called the “special military operation” in Ukraine a “war” and talked about the deaths of Ukrainian children.
