BMW made heated seats payable. Subscription in some countries will cost $18 per month

The German manufacturer BMW has made heated seats in cars in a number of countries paid, the subscription will cost $18 per month or $180 per year. Unlimited access can be purchased for $406, according to Jalopnik.

The publication notes that the company has installed a software block for the functionality of heated seats, for the removal of which buyers must pay.

So far, ward seat heating has been launched in South Korea, the UK, Germany, New Zealand and South Africa. The heated steering wheel will also be available on a subscription basis and will cost about $10 per month or $161 for three years. You can also buy this feature for $222 for an unlimited period. Permanent access to Apple CarPlay will cost South Korean customers more than $304, while enhanced stereo sound will cost $137. Auto headlight adjustment will also be available with a $8/month subscription.

At the same time, BMW has previously tried to get people to pay $80 a year for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems that allow you to connect a smartphone to a car. A spokesman for BMW explained to The Drive that the decision was due to poor usage of some features, including cruise control.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade included BMW products in the list of goods for "parallel imports". The goods included in such a list will be subject to the international principle of "exhaustion" of trademark rights, that is, after the first sale of the original goods, they can be imported into Russia without the owner's permission. This differs from the national principle of ownership usually in force in Russia, when the right holder controls all supplies, can prohibit their import and demand up to 5 million rubles in compensation in case of violation of the import conditions.
