The court fined journalist Yuri Dudya 120,000 rubles in an administrative case initiated under an article about gay propaganda.
The head of the Safe Internet League, Yekaterina Mizulina, said that the report on Dudya was drawn up because of an interview with the artist and openly gay Fyodor Pavlov-Andreevich.
The article “Propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations among minors” appeared in the Russian Code of Administrative Offenses in 2013. It provides for fines and administrative arrests of up to 15 days.
On July 11, the State Duma Committee on Information Policy proposed to ban "propaganda of non-traditional relations" in Russia, regardless of age. The law is expected to be considered in the fall.
Earlier, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin sent the bill for study to the relevant Committee of the State Duma with the following explanatory note:
"Family, motherhood and childhood in their traditional understanding, taken from the ancestors, are the values that ensure the continuous change of generations, are a condition for the preservation and development of the multinational people of the Russian Federation, and therefore need special protection from the state."
Now responsibility is provided only for the promotion of non-traditional sexual relations among minors.
