The World Court of the Tagansky district of Moscow fined the American company Zoom Video Communications Inc because the corporation refused to localize the data of Russian users in the country. It is reported by Interfax.
"Recognize Zoom Video Communications Inc. guilty under Part 8 of Art. 13.11 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (failure by the operator, when collecting personal data, of the obligation to ensure the recording, systematization, accumulation, storage of personal data of citizens of the Russian Federation using databases located on the territory of the Russian Federation) and impose a fine of 1 million rubles, ”the judge announced the decision. There were no representatives of the company at the court session, the Magistrate's Court considered the protocol without their participation.
According to the law "On Personal Data", the company must store information about users from the Russian Federation only in the country.
Earlier on June 12, the court fined Apple 2 million rubles in the same case. Representatives of the company during the trial emphasized that Apple Inc. does not process personal data. Instead, this is done by Apple Distribution International Ltd, which is "specified in all explanations for users of Apple products." Despite this, the court found Apple guilty.
