Ilya Yashin sent to jail

The municipal deputy of the Krasnoselsky district of Moscow, Ilya Yashin, was sent to a pre-trial detention center for two months until September 12 by the decision of the Basmanny District Court. He was charged with "fakes about the army based on political hatred."

The court session was held in closed mode from journalists and listeners. Judge Natalya Dudar closed the consideration of the petition of the investigation "in order not to disclose state and other secrets protected by law," Mediazona reports.

Yashin himself stated in court that the case was politically motivated "from the first to the last page."

“The investigator is disingenuous, all that the investigation has is a video on YouTube. They are simply embarrassed by the public and the resonance. It is necessary to accustom the investigating authorities to attention. It's OK".

As Yashin's lawyer said earlier, the politician is charged with clause "d" part 2 of Art. 207.3 of the Criminal Code (dissemination of deliberately false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation) for speaking live on his YouTube channel on April 7 about what happened in Bucha. This information was confirmed by the joint press service of the Moscow courts of general jurisdiction.

The day before, Yashin's house was searched, and the deputy himself was sent for interrogation. The fact that a criminal case was opened against Yashin became known on July 12, when the administrative arrest of the politician for "disobedience to the police" ended. On this charge, Yashin served 15 days, a report on him was compiled by police sniper Alexei Mitrofankin, who claims that the deputy “grabbed him by the uniform, dirtyly insulted him and pushed him away with his hands.”

On May 25, Yashin was fined 30,000 rubles under the article on "discrediting the Russian army." The MP's crime was that he published a 1969 photograph of the Vietnam War protests. He captioned the post: “Bombing for peace is like fucking for virginity.” 50 years have passed, but the slogans are still relevant, ”the politician signed the photo. In total, four protocols were drawn up against him under the article on “discrediting” the army.

Yashin has repeatedly said that he intends to call the war in Ukraine a war, not a special operation, and is not going to leave the country. The politician expected persecution, as well as imprisonment, and even prepared for imprisonment. Shortly before the administrative arrest for 15 days , he told about this in an interview with Yuri Dud.

“After February 24, as soon as the first rockets flew to Ukraine, I went to the dentist and put my entire jaw in order, although I am afraid of dentists. I realized that if you go to jail, then no one will treat your teeth there. But, first of all, you must be mentally prepared. And there is no problem with this. Because I'm only responsible for myself. I have no family, no children, and it's quite difficult to put pressure on me now. (…) I don't want to be killed, I don't want to go to jail, but even less I want to leave my country. I'm not going anywhere from here."
