The recognition of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic was announced by the head of the "DPR" Denis Pushilin. The representative office of the DPR in Russia said that the republics had agreed on "further steps to establish diplomatic relations." It was also reported that the DPRK ambassador presented the DPR ambassador in Russia with a document recognizing the republic.
Later that day, the DPRK embassy in Moscow confirmed that Pyongyang had recognized the "LPR".
