Polish manufacturer of frozen fruits and vegetables Hortex leaves Russia

The Polish company Ortika Frozen Foods, which produces frozen vegetables, fruits and berries under the Hortex brand, has left Russia, Interfax reports .

The new owner of the company, according to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, is Agama Group of Companies, which is engaged in the production and supply of fish.

As reported on the Hortex website, its brand is the leader in Central and Eastern Europe in the market of frozen vegetables, fruits and berries, products are also sold in other regions of the world. The company has three plants in Russia – two in the Moscow region and one in Karelia.

Since the outbreak of war in Ukraine, hundreds of foreign companies have left Russia, including MacDonald's, Starbucks and IKEA.

On July 14, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the government to create conditions for the relocation to the country of foreign companies that have left the Russian market.

“Every second out of almost 1,400 large foreign companies has suspended its activities or completely left the Russian market. The government should create favorable conditions for their relocation to Kazakhstan. This will give us good opportunities to increase the production of goods of medium and upper processing,” Tokayev said during an extended government meeting.
