The court acquitted the artist Yulia Tsvetkova

On July 15, the Central District Court of Komsomolsk-on-Amur acquitted the artist Yulia Tsvetkova on rehabilitative grounds. This was announced by her mother on her Facebook page.

The prosecutor's office can appeal the decision within ten days.

The case against Yulia Tsvetkova under the article “Illegal production and circulation of pornographic materials using the Internet” was opened on November 20, 2019 after a denunciation by Timur Bulatov, whose main activity is the dismissal of teachers who were seen in LGBT “propaganda”.

The basis for the denunciation of Tsvetkova was the body-positive drawings of women and vulvas, which the artist published in her public page on VKontakte “Vagina Monologues”. In January of this year, it became known that the drawings by Yulia Tsvetkova were sent for verification to the center, according to whose examinations the historian Yuri Dmitriev was convicted and Memorial was liquidated.

The investigation has been going on for more than two years. During this time, Tsvetkova was in a pre-trial detention center, under house arrest, and then under house arrest. The Human Rights Center "Memorial" recognized her as a political prisoner.

On June 3, 2022, she was included in the list of foreign media agents by the Russian Ministry of Justice. On June 14, the prosecutor's office in the debate requested for her 3 years 2 months of a real term with serving in a general regime colony. In a recent interview with the BBC, she said that her "life is completely destroyed."
