The first M270 jet systems arrived in Ukraine. This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov.
“There will be a good company HIMARS. Thanks to our partners. The enemy will have no mercy,” he wrote on his Twitter.
The M270 is an American universal launcher used as a multiple rocket launcher. It can hit targets up to 80 km away and fire 12 ground-to-ground missiles within a minute.
In early June, Britain announced the transfer of the M270 to Ukraine. “These high-performance multiple launch rocket systems will enable our Ukrainian friends to better defend themselves against the brutal use of long-range artillery that Putin’s forces have used indiscriminately to destroy cities,” Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said in a statement. He specified that the delivery was coordinated with the United States.
According to the BBC, the first delivery included three M270s. The British authorities have said that the Ukrainian military will learn how to operate these launchers in Britain.
