The Kremlin media report on the statement of the Ministry of Defense explaining the reasons for the missile attack on the center of Vinnitsa. The Vesti material is titled "High Precision Strike Completes Meeting on Arms Supplies to Kiev." The Ministry of Defense writes in the Telegram channel:
“On July 14, Kalibr high-precision sea-based missiles hit the building of the garrison house of officers in the city of Vinnitsa.
At the time of the strike, a meeting was held at this military facility between the command of the Ukrainian air forces and representatives of foreign arms suppliers on the transfer of the next batch of aircraft and weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as organizing the repair of the Ukrainian aviation fleet. As a result of the strike, the participants in the meeting were destroyed.”
This is the second attempt by the Defense Ministry to justify a missile attack on the center of Vinnytsia, which killed 23 people and left more than 40 missing. The first explanation a few hours after the impact appeared on the Telegram channel of Margarita Simonyan:
“I asked the Defense Ministry where they hit in Vinnitsa. Answer: 'In the House of Officers, there was a temporary accommodation for the Nazis'.
Now, as they say, the concept has changed: in the House of Officers it was no longer clear why the necessary “temporary point” was needed, but a meeting with foreign suppliers of aviation equipment. But this version is a little better than the previous one.
The fact that such a meeting could be held in Vinnitsa is quite likely: the command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is located in this city. But the choice of the House of Officers seems rather strange. In Vinnitsa there is a complex of buildings of the High Command of the Armed Forces, located more than one and a half kilometers from the House of Officers. These buildings must be equipped with secure communication channels and eavesdropping systems, which is hardly possible in the House of Officers, intended for official meetings and cultural events.
In March, a missile attack was carried out on the territory of the High Command, as a result of which, as the military administration admitted, infrastructure was damaged. But it does not seem that after that, instead of the affected buildings, they began to use the House of Officers: all this time it continued to work as a concert venue. And directly on July 14, on the day of the rocket attack, a charity concert of the singer Roxolana (Roksolana Sirota) was planned there. A member of her team, 25-year-old sound engineer Evgeny Kovalenko, died . At 11 o'clock, just before the impact, he parked his car in front of the Officers' House and was about to enter the building to begin preparations for the concert. Three more members of the Roxolana bands and singer Olya Cybulskaya were injured. Judge for yourself how likely it is that an important military conference is taking place at the same time in the House of Officers.
There were no reports about which of the representatives of the command of the Armed Forces was allegedly “destroyed”. There are also no reports of foreign citizens injured during the shelling of Vinnytsia.
