TV channel "Rain" announced the resumption of its work. The first broadcast will begin on YouTube on July 18 at 20:00 Moscow time.
“After the forced suspension of the broadcast in March, we managed to keep the team and the main principles: like the last 12 years, we will talk about events and phenomena without censorship and manipulation. <…> The Dozhd TV channel is starting to work in open access on all platforms – you can watch and read us on all our social networks, on YouTube and on cable networks. Our apps and website will not work in the first phase, but we are working on launching them too. After some time, we hope that we will be able to start preparing exclusive content for our subscribers, ”the channel’s press release says.
Dozhd's studios will operate in Riga, Amsterdam, Tbilisi and Paris.
As Dozhd notes, viewers outside of Russia can watch it on TV in the Kartina.TV service and in the networks of the channel's partners .
In early March 2022, the CEO of Dozhd, Natalia Sindeeva, announced that the channel was temporarily shutting down due to the law on “fake news” about the war.
“We are temporarily suspending the TV channel. Temporary is very important. We need strength and time to exhale and understand how to work further, because the adoption of this law makes the work virtually impossible. <…> This was the last news release. <…> I wrote a speech, but I can’t deliver it, because I’ll start crying again. We've been through a lot and never gave up, and we don't give up now. We need to think about how to save everything that we have been doing for many years, and how to continue this work, ”Sindeeva said then.
Earlier, the Prosecutor General's Office demanded to restrict access to the TV channel and its website. The department claims that the information posted on Dozhd contains calls for extremism, violence against citizens of the Russian Federation, mass violations of public order and public safety, and “publishes false information about the actions of the Russian military as part of a special operation to protect the DNR and LNR.”
