The court decided to send the artist from Yekaterinburg to a mental hospital because of anti-war leaflets

The Chkalovsky District Court of Yekaterinburg ruled to send the artist Yegor Ledyakin (pseudonym Leonid Cherny) to a psychiatric hospital for examination. Previously, he was detained for posting anti-war leaflets. This is reported by the portal It's my city.

According to Chernoy's lawyer Natalia Novikova, the prosecution offered the court to undergo an examination in a psychiatric hospital. Investigators suggested that the artist printed anti-war stickers, wrote “no war” with a balloon and made other inscriptions due to a possible mental disorder.

At the same time, in June, Cherny was already subjected to an outpatient experimental psychological study, during which it turned out that his thinking was not disturbed. However, the members of the commission considered it necessary to send the artist to a stationary forensic psychiatric examination in order to rule out "the possibility of a chronic mental disorder." The procedure will take about two weeks.

“During such an examination, he will lie, sleep, eat, talk with the insane and murderers. In principle, for broadening one's horizons, this is okay. But you can let go home and work,” says the artist’s lawyer.

In addition, the court reclassified his criminal case to a more serious article on hooliganism for political reasons (paragraph “b” of Part 1 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code). It happened when Cherny was in a special detention center, but the defense found out about it only now. Under the new article, he faces up to 5 years in prison.

Chernoy was detained in March for putting up anti-war leaflets and for writing condemnation of the Russian president on a vegetable stall. Stickers "GruZ 200" and "P**Z**Ts" were found on him. Then a criminal case was opened against the artist for vandalism (part 1 of article 214 of the Criminal Code). According to OVD-Info , more than 190 people have already become defendants in criminal cases because of their opposition to the war with Ukraine.
