US to provide four more HIMARS systems to Ukraine

The United States will provide Ukraine with four more multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) HIMARS. This was stated by the head of the Pentagon Lloyd Austin, the broadcast of his speech was conducted on Twitter of the US Department of Defense.

ABC journalist Luis Martinez said that along with this, Ukraine will have 16 HIMARS systems.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov admitted that the "geographical tasks" of the "special operation" had changed due to the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine. According to Lavrov, now the tasks include not only the “DPR” and “LPR”, but also the Kherson, Zaporozhye regions and a number of other territories. The minister added that geographic objectives will be pushed even further from the current line as the West supplies Ukraine with long-range weapons, such as the HIMARS MLRS.

In July, US President Joe Biden announced an additional $400 million military aid package for Ukraine. It included four HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) and ammunition, three tactical vehicles, 155-mm artillery ammunition, explosive ammunition, counter-battery systems, spare parts for military equipment and other equipment. According to the US Department of Defense, the country has already allocated about $8 billion in security assistance.
