Three Russian battalion tactical groups requested a “green corridor” from Ukraine for another “goodwill gesture.” During the counteroffensive, the Russian troops in the Kherson direction found themselves in an operational encirclement in the Vysokopole region. This is reported by the correspondent of The Insider, citing sources in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, currently operating on the spot. They confirm the contact of the Russian commanders of the encircled units.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, a total of three battalion tactical groups (BTGs), including company special forces and tank ones, are surrounded in the Vysokopolye region. Even if the groups are understaffed (as previously reported by military experts), the number of military personnel may exceed 1,000. Sources in the Armed Forces and intelligence say about 2,000 soldiers. This number is also confirmed to The Insider by a source close to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
The offensive of the Ukrainian troops was carried out in two directions at once: Olgino – Kostyrka and Potemkino – Novovoznesenskoye. At the moment, in the north of the Kherson region, active hostilities are underway along the Arkhangelsk-Zolotaya Balka line, a correspondent reports.
Also, the threat of encirclement loomed over the Russian troops in the area of the village of Arkhangelskoye, where the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to successfully force the Ingulets River, on the left bank of which the Russian troops are defending. The Novovoznesenskoe-Zolotaya Balka defense line, according to Ukrainian military estimates, is held by two Russian BTGs.
Problems for the Russian military are added by the difficulty of transferring reserves to the right bank of the Dnieper due to significant damage to both existing crossings – the Antonovsky bridge in Kherson and the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in Novaya Kakhovka. As The Insider’s sources note, the success of the UAF operation to encircle Russian troops north of Kherson could determine the course of the entire southern campaign of the Ukrainian army.
