The authorities of the Belgorod region refuse to pay compensation to the relatives of a woman who died during the shelling of the village of Zhuravlevka. Writes about it "Lantern".
When the residents of the shelled village began to be evacuated, Elena Ushakova and her husband were placed in a hotel. On May 26, she returned to Zhuravlevka to collect her belongings, but came under fire. Two shells flew right into the courtyard of her house, and she herself was caught by shrapnel. The woman began to bleed arterially on her leg, and the doctors could not replace the blood loss. Elena died the next day.
After the funeral, the woman's family applied to various authorities, but everywhere they received the same answer: payments were not due.
“My brother got a call about our details. The social security office found out to whom to transfer the amount, and after that they called him again and said: “You are not entitled to payments.” They absolutely did not argue this, no documents, no articles, no norms of the law, ”said Elena’s son Evgeny.
He believes that local authorities can justify the refusal of payments by a ban on entry to Zhuravlevka. However, there is no official document on the ban, only a post on the Telegram channel of the Governor of the Belgorod Region Vyacheslav Gladkov.
On July 22, during a direct line, Gladkov answered Yevgeny's questions about refusing payments as follows:
“You didn’t write to me, and I didn’t see the appeal:“ Vyacheslav Vladimirovich, let’s persuade my mom and dad not to visit dangerous places. You didn't contact me. And now come and ask where is the money after burying your mother? Are you sure you are a son?
Now the Ushakov family plans to write a statement to the prosecutor's office and a letter to the presidential administration.
