Opposition politician Leonid Gozman was detained in Moscow at the Frunzenskaya metro station in Moscow. This was announced on his Facebook page by lawyer Mikhail Biryukov, who at that moment was with Gozman.

According to the lawyer, the politician was detained at the entrance to the subway, as the Sphere facial recognition system worked. The police told Biryukov that Gozman was on the federal wanted list. Previously, it was only known that a criminal case had been opened against the politician for failure to notify dual citizenship.

The lawyer also said that Alexandra Andreeva, a municipal deputy of the Lefortovo district, was detained in Moscow, the reason for the detention is unknown.

On July 15, it was reported that Gozman was detained and taken to the Investigative Committee. He told The Insider that a criminal case was brought against him because of his second citizenship.

Gozman is the president of the Union of Right Forces, a right-wing liberal political party that existed in Russia from 1999-2008. In the spring of 2021, the Gagarinsky District Court of Moscow fined him 20,000 rubles because of a rally in support of Alexei Navalny. In May 2022, the Ministry of Justice included Gozman in the list of "foreign agents".
