“I want to defend my country, with or without a passport.” Korban will try to enter Ukraine again

Deprived of Ukrainian citizenship, businessman and politician Gennady Korban, who also headed the defense of the Dnepropetrovsk region, will again attempt to enter Ukraine. This time with a birth certificate. He wrote about this on his Facebook page.

According to Korban, his Ukrainian passport was taken away, denoting a “stateless person” in the citizenship column. Now he is in Poland.

“I still have a birth certificate in my hands, which no one can suspend or cancel. This document says where I was born – the city of Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. However, the need for fiction is cunning, as folk wisdom says. Don't expect Saakashvili-style breakthrough of the border. The country is at war! Well, and most importantly, from the first days of the war I defended and want to continue to defend my country, even with a passport, even without … ”Korban wrote.

As Andrei Demchenko, the speaker of the State Border Service, told RBC-Ukraine, a birth certificate does not give the right to enter Ukraine. At the same time, the decision to cross the border is made by the inspector of the border service, "guided by the norms of the legislation and those documents that a person provides for crossing the border."

On July 22, Korban was not allowed into Ukraine after a copy of a decree depriving him of Ukrainian citizenship was circulated online (two sources close to The Insider confirmed the existence of such a decree). A video appeared on social networks, where the country's border guards take away his passport, explaining that his citizenship has been suspended.

The decree also spoke about the deprivation of Ukrainian citizenship of 9 people, including oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, co-chairman of the Opposition Platform – For Life party Vadym Rabinovich and head of the subcommittee on maritime transport of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Transport and Infrastructure Ihor Vasylkovsky.
