The German government has agreed to sell 100 Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine, writes Der Spiegel. According to the publication, the deal amounted to €1.7 billion.
Depending on the ammunition used, the Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzer can fire at a distance of 30 to 50 km. Experts consider it one of the most modern howitzers in the world: it fires up to ten rounds per minute.
A day earlier, it became known that Germany had transferred to Ukraine three MARS-II multiple launch rocket systems (a European modification of the American M270 MLRS on a tracked base) and three PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts.
According to media reports, Germany is also preparing to send IRIS-T air defense systems and three armored recovery vehicles to Ukraine.
In June, according to Business Insider, Germany encountered difficulties transferring the MARS-II, as the on-board control systems of the launchers did not allow the use of American and British-made ammunition and required reconfiguration.
