UEFA launched an investigation due to the fact that the fans of the Turkish club shouted “Vladimir Putin!” at the match with Kyiv “Dynamo”

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) launched a disciplinary investigation due to the fact that fans of the Turkish club Fenerbahce chanted "Vladimir Putin!" during a match with Dynamo Kyiv in Istanbul on July 27. This is stated in a statement on the website of the Union.

At the 57th minute of the Champions League match, Dynamo midfielder Vitaliy Buyalsky opened the scoring and started celebrating the goal scored. The Ukrainian team won the match in extra time with a score of 2:1 and advanced to the next round.

Russian teams have been suspended from international tournaments under the auspices of UEFA and FIFA. The reason for the removal was Russia's military invasion of Ukraine. The Russian men's team was unable to participate in the play-offs for the right to qualify for the 2022 World Cup and is deprived of the right to participate in the League of Nations. The women's national team misses the European Championship in England, and Russian clubs in the 2022/23 season will not play in the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League. In addition, UEFA moved the 2021/22 Champions League final from St. Petersburg to Paris and also rejected Russia's bid to host Euro 2028 and Euro 2032.

Against this background, the Russian Ministry of Sports plans to create a football league for the occupied regions of Ukraine, as well as for South Ossetia and Abkhazia, and hold championships, Deputy Sports Minister Odes Baisultanov said. The teams of LDNR, Crimea, Zaporozhye and Kherson will play, the organization will not belong to the structures of the Russian Football Union. It is planned to create it on the basis of the Crimean Football Union.
