Shakira asked for more than 8 years in prison and a fine of more than € 23 million for tax evasion

Spanish prosecutors have requested more than 8 years in prison and more than €23 million in fines for singer Shakira in a €14.5 million tax fraud case, Spanish newspaper El Pais reports .

Shakira is accused of tax evasion between 2012 and 2014. According to the representatives of the singer, at that time she did not live in Spain. In addition, according to Shakira herself, despite her disagreement with the accusation of non-payment of the debt, she paid $ 17.2 million to the Spanish treasury.

According to the singer's lawyers, she moved to Spain only in 2015, and until that time she was a tax resident of the Bahamas. However, according to the prosecution, in 2012, Shakira bought a house in Spain, rented a recording studio and, being pregnant, was observed in a clinic in Barcelona.
