The Ukrainian army received the German MLRS MARS II with a range of up to 70 km

The Ukrainian army received the German MLRS MARS II, said the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov.

“The third brother of the Long Hand family arrived in Ukraine – MLRS MARS II from Germany. Thanks to Germany and personally to my colleague Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht for these systems,” Reznikov wrote.

MARS-II is a European modification of the American MLRS M270 on a tracked base. Like the HIMARS previously delivered to Ukraine, the system is capable of firing tactical missiles and guided missiles with an effective range of up to 70 km (GMLRS family). Ammunition includes 12 shells (twice as many as HIMARS).

In June, Business Insider reported that Germany was having difficulty transferring the MARS-II because the launcher's on-board control systems did not allow the use of American and British-made ammunition and required reconfiguration.
