At least 10 Russian generals have died in Russia's war against Ukraine. This is stated in the daily summary of British intelligence.
The agency emphasizes that "the poor performance of the Russian armed forces during the invasion of Ukraine cost the Russian military leadership dearly." Intelligence also reports that since February 2022, 6 commanders have been fired from the Russian army due to inefficiency.
Among them are General Alexander Dvornikov, Colonel General Alexander Chaiko, who was dismissed from the post of commander of the Eastern Military District in May, as well as Gennady Zhidko, who transferred control of the Southern Group of Forces to Sergei Surovikin. British intelligence also indicates that the commander of the Western Military District, Colonel General Alexander Zhuravlev, did not participate in the celebration of the Navy Day in St. Petersburg on July 31. He was probably replaced by Lieutenant General Vladimir Kochetkov.
The intelligence report states that "the cumulative effect of command coherence is likely to exacerbate Russia's tactical and operational problems."
Ukraine, the media and various independent observers regularly report on Russian losses in Ukraine. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on August 6, Russia lost about 300 people in the war. As of the end of July, US estimates put Russia's losses in Ukraine at about 15,000 killed and about 45,000 wounded. Russia itself does not disclose such data and reported on the dead only twice. The last one is March 25th.
