Low-cost airline Wizz Air will resume flights from Abu Dhabi to Moscow

Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air will resume flights from Abu Dhabi to Moscow, Reuters writes, citing a company statement.

Flights will begin on October 3 and will be daily. In 2021, Wizz Air announced the launch of flights from Abu Dhabi to Moscow. On April 1 this year, the low-cost airline canceled all flights to and from Russia until October 30 due to the Russian war in Ukraine.

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi is the registered air carrier of the United Arab Emirates.

Other UAE carriers, including Emirates, did not stop operating flights to Russia after the invasion of Ukraine.

Due to the war in Ukraine, Russian airlines began to fly much less. In addition, due to sanctions, there is an acute shortage of spare parts, and in order to replace parts, part of the fleet has to be dismantled for spare parts. But most importantly, because of the sanctions, Russia was disconnected from updating international route maps, which makes landing aircraft dangerous. The Insider, on condition of anonymity, spoke with an Aeroflot pilot about how the consequences of sanctions for Russian aviation look from the inside.
