Russian Defense Ministry: Explosions in Crimea are the detonation of ammunition in a warehouse

The Russian Defense Ministry stated that the explosions in the area of ​​​​the military airport in Novofedorovka were the detonation of ammunition in a warehouse.

“At about 15.20, on the territory of the Saki airfield near the Novofedorovka settlement, several aviation munitions detonated on a bunded storage site. No one was injured in the explosion. Aviation equipment at the airfield was not damaged," the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The agency notes that the causes of the explosion are now being investigated. “There was no fire impact on the bunded ammunition storage area at the airfield,” the message emphasizes.

The “head” of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, claims that ambulance crews and medical aviation are working on the spot, but no one has yet contacted medical institutions from civilians for help. At the same time, it is reported about the evacuation of people from nearby houses.
