The “DPR” territorial defense headquarters claims that due to the shelling of the Donetsk brewery in the Kalininsky district on the evening of August 10, ammonia leaked, the affected area was two kilometers. On August 11, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the “republic” announced that the leak had been stopped.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, there were 32 people at the plant at the time of the incident. As a result, one person died and two were injured. At the time of reports of the leak, the agency recommended that citizens seal their homes and breathe through cotton-gauze bandages.
The headquarters of the defense of the so-called republic is accused of shelling the plant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Pro-Kremlin Telegram channels also circulated videos with captions alleging shelling from the Ukrainian side. Ukraine has not yet commented on the information.
In May, an ammonia leak occurred in the Bakhmut district of the Donetsk region of Ukraine, the villages of Kodema, Semigorye, Dacha, Nikolaevka Vtoraya, as well as the villages of Gladosovo and Dolomitnoye were in the affected area. The head of the regional military administration (OVA), Pavel Kirilenko, reported that the radius of possible damage by a cloud of ammonia is about four kilometers. He later added that there was no threat. Rescuers conducted a survey and found that approximately 250 tons of ammonia are located on the 7.5 km section of the pipeline.
On May 24, Russia fired at the Azot chemical plant, head of the Luhansk region Sergei Gaidai said. According to him, as a result of the shelling, four people were killed, one was seriously injured.
