10 aircraft owned or controlled by Russia cannot leave Germany due to EU sanctions. This was reported by Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland with reference to the German Ministry of Transport.
“Because the planes are banned from taking off and flying due to the EU sanctions regime, they cannot be used by the owners and cannot be taken to other places,” the agency said in a statement.
According to the Ministry, out of 10 aircraft, 3 are An-124s, which are located in Leipzig. Bombardier Challenger 300 and Boeing 737 are stuck in Cologne, Boeing 747 is stuck at Frankfurt Hahn Airport (70 km from Koblenz). All four are business jets.
In mid-June, the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag wrote that the planes of Russian oligarchs continue to fly over Europe, despite the sanctions. This is evidenced by flight tracking data. In total, the publication recorded about 30 such flights.
