The FBI has determined that the gun that killed Galina Hutchins could not have been fired by accident, as Alec Baldwin claimed.

Forensic investigators from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation found that the revolver used by actor Alec Baldwin to shoot cameraman Galina Hutchins on the set of "Rust" "could not have been fired without pulling the trigger." It is reported by ABC News with reference to the report.

A random shot test of the revolver showed that the pistol could not be fired without depressing even with the hammer in the quarter and half cock positions. The same with the hammer fully cocked, provided that "all working internal components were intact and functioning".

Forensic experts also noted that with an uncocked trigger with a loaded cartridge, the revolver could detonate the primer "without pulling the trigger with a direct blow to the trigger", which is normal for this type of revolver.

Galina Hutchins died on the set of Rust on October 21, 2021. The cause of death was a shot fired by actor Alec Baldwin with a prop pistol. The director of the film, Joel Sous, also suffered because of this.

In December 2021, Baldwin revealed in an interview with ABC that he did not pull the trigger of a revolver: "I would never point a gun at anyone and pull the trigger, never." He also added that "someone inserted a live round into the gun, a round that shouldn't even have been on the pad." However, who did it is unknown.
