Apple requires Rutube to hide Russian propaganda media in the iOS app

The American corporation Apple demanded from the Russian video hosting Rutube either to hide the materials of the state media or to ban the iOS application for all users not from Russia. This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the video hosting.

At the same time, Rutube, due to Apple's demand, has already restricted access to its iOS application for a number of countries. It is currently available in 171 countries.

The American company gave Rutube two weeks to fulfill the requirement. Otherwise, the video hosting application will be removed from the AppStore. For its part, Rutube said that it does not plan to restrict the display of Russian media content, since "this violates the rights of the Russian-speaking population."

After blocking the channels of Russian media and bloggers on YouTube in connection with the war in Ukraine, many of them moved to the Rutube platform. Among them are Channel One, Russia 1, NTV, Russia-24, TNT, Spas, RBC, TASS, RT, as well as the channels of Russian propagandist Vladimir Solovyov, pranksters Vovan and Lexus, journalist Anton Krasovsky, blogger Dmitry (Goblin) Puchkov and others.
