The court fined Telegram 4 million rubles for refusing to remove the “Look for your own” bot with data from the Russian military

A court in Moscow has fined Telegram 4 million rubles for refusing to remove a bot that reveals personal data of Russian military personnel involved in the war in Ukraine.

“Telegram received an order from Roskomnadzor to remove the “Look for your own” bot, which reveals the personal data of Russian military personnel <…> The specified resources were not removed within the period prescribed by law,” the judge said.

In March, former State Duma deputy Natalya Poklonskaya said that the Telegram channel “Look for your own” should be closed, since the information contained there could harm “even a stable psyche.”

“I believe that the resource not only does not fulfill its humanitarian tasks, but also has a psychological impact, spreads misinformation and collects personal data from relatives of military personnel,” she wrote.

The channel “Look for Your Own” was created by the Ukrainian military so that relatives of the Russian military could find information about their fate.
