Ministry of Emergency Situations: in Russia there is not enough plastic for the production of fire helmets

Russian manufacturers of fire and rescue equipment and equipment lack domestic components. This was announced by the first deputy head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia Alexander Chupriyan.

He explained the resulting deficit by dependence on imported electronic components. Russia does not have its own small-sized internal combustion engines, which are used in drones, special emergency tools, mobile pumping stations and power generators. In addition, Chupriyan noted that the cases of fire helmets in the country are made of ABS plastic exclusively of foreign production.

Among other problems, he also mentioned the provision of the Ministry of Emergency Situations with means of communication, intelligence, and personal protection.

On the eve of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the department approved a program for the technical re-equipment of the units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations with fire, rescue, special and aviation equipment until 2030. At the end of 2021, an additional 15 billion rubles were allocated from the budget for this. The Ministry of Emergency Situations planned to purchase new special vehicles and heavy-duty robotic systems for clearing minefields. At that time, the staffing of the Ministry of Emergency Situations was 86%.
