The ex-dean of the theater department of GITIS, Natalya Pivovarova, was fired from the university, she told about this on social networks. Pivovarova repeatedly spoke out against the war. In early March, she was fired from her post as head of the Shchepkin House Museum.
“So my odyssey at GITIS ended. It lasted 48 years. But everything comes to an end. War. How else?” she wrote.
According to Pivovarova, at GITIS she was unexpectedly offered to first write a letter of resignation, although before that they had already sent a schedule for the next academic year. When she refused to leave of her own accord, she was told that her contract was not being renewed.
