Yevgeny Roizman detained for “discrediting the Russian army”

The former mayor of Yekaterinburg, Yevgeny Roizman, was detained as part of a criminal case on “discrediting the Russian army.” This is reported by TASS with reference to the emergency services of the region. The video of the politician's detention was published by the Mash Telegram channel.

“Roizman was detained in the morning, the security forces came to his house. A criminal case has been initiated against him for discrediting the Russian army, ”TASS quoted its source as saying.

According to Leyla Gusanova, an assistant to the politician, the museum of the Nevyansk icon opened by Roizman and the office of the Yevgeny Roizman Foundation were searched.

In a conversation with The Insider, Gusanova clarified: “I am in the fund, a search is being carried out here, we have a lawyer with us. As far as I know, a lawyer has already been allowed to see Yevgeny. So far, the fund has seized one laptop from which Evgeny Roizman was broadcasting. Everything is fine with us, it was expected.”

In 2022, Roizman was fined three times for “discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation” in social networks for a total of 150 thousand rubles. He was also fined 85 thousand rubles under the article on disrespect for the authorities.
