Mercedes-Benz is selling its car assembly plant in Esipov near Moscow, Kommersant writes , citing sources in the automotive industry.
According to one of them, the plant has already been put up for sale. Another source claims that the Mercedes deal with one of the Russian dealers is already "at the final stage."
According to Kommersant, the dealer Avtodom is also bidding for the plant, and the Corporation for the Development of the Moscow Region is participating in negotiations on the sale.
Experts interviewed by Kommersant note that if the deal goes through, the buyer will not be able to use the plant to assemble Mercedes cars – this requires supplies from authorized component manufacturers, which is impossible without the support of the headquarters.
