Gazprom announced a complete shutdown of Nord Stream due to malfunctions, which allegedly prevent sanctions from being eliminated

The Nord Stream gas pipeline will not operate until the malfunctions identified by the maintenance are fixed. This was reported in Gazprom. It's about oil leaks. The problem can only be fixed at the factory in Canada.

A photo of “one of the detected leaks at GPU No. 24 of the Portovaya CS” was published by Gazprom in its Telegram channel.

According to the head of Gazprom, Alexei Miller, factory repairs of the Nord Stream turbines are impossible due to sanctions – only Siemens can carry out regular overhauls of gas compressor units. “She simply has nowhere to do this work,” says Miller.

The shutdown of Nord Stream was also reported on 31 August. Gazprom insists that the suspension of the pipeline is due to the need for preventive maintenance at the Portovaya station. In turn, European politicians are sure that the Kremlin is using gas as a blackmail tool for supporting Ukraine in the war.

The reduction in Russian gas supplies provoked a new wave of the energy crisis in Europe, but the EU countries are increasing gas supplies from alternative sources: Norway, Azerbaijan, North African countries, as well as liquefied natural gas from the USA, Qatar and other countries. In addition, European states are forced to reopen coal mines and power plants in order to replace gas.
