In St. Petersburg, the concert of pianist Polina Osetinskaya was canceled. She has previously spoken out against the war.

In St. Petersburg, the concert of pianist Polina Osetinskaya, which was supposed to take place on September 3 at the Great Hall of the Philharmonic, was canceled. She announced this on her Facebook page.

“I just received a phone call and was told that tomorrow I will not play Beethoven's triple concerto in the Great Hall of the Philharmonic. I think everything is clear to everyone, ”writes Osetinskaya.

According to her, the Philharmonic said that the concert would be canceled completely if the pianist was not replaced.

On February 24, after Vladimir Putin sent troops into Ukraine, Osetinskaya posted on her Instagram with a photo of a badge that read "No to war":

“A black day in our history… Horror, shame and disgust. My friends are in Ukraine, Kyiv, Odessa, I have no words, I didn’t think that I would ever live to see this.”

After that, she also signed an appeal by Russian NGOs to Putin demanding an end to the war. The pianist is a trustee of the Oxygen Foundation, which helps patients with cystic fibrosis.

After the start of the war, up to 30% of Russian artists stopped performing or left Russia, Kommersant writes , citing participants in the concert industry. So, the concerts of DDT, Noize MC, Monetochka, Spleen, Anacondaz, Face and others were canceled. Read about how the Russian authorities persecute objectionable musicians in The Insider.
