The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has completed pre-trial investigations against two Russian generals. The department accuses them of encroaching on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine (part 3 of article 110 of the Criminal Code) and of planning, preparing, unleashing and waging an aggressive war (part 2 of article 437 of the Criminal Code).
One of them is the commander of the Eastern Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Chaiko. According to investigators, at the beginning of the war, he was directly involved in planning, preparing and invading northern Ukraine. He is also accused of trying to capture Kyiv through the command of the Vostok group of troops.
The SBU indicates that Chaiko also placed his headquarters in a captured kindergarten in the village of Zdvizhevka, Buchansky district, in order to avoid damage during the ZSU counterattack. At the stadium of one of the local schools, he presented his subordinates with awards for military operations in Kyiv.
The second defendant is Major General Esedulla Abachev, commander of the “2nd Army Corps of the People’s Militia of the LPR”, which was subordinate to the 12th command of the reserve of the Southern Military District.
According to the SBU, he led the actions of the Russian military in the eastern direction. It is indicated that his stay and participation in hostilities against the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the areas of Severodonetsk, Lysichansk, Kremennaya, Rubizhnoye and other settlements of the Luhansk region were documented.
