The Moscow Regional Court sentenced Kaliningrad doctors Elina Sushkevich and Elena Belaya to 9 and 9.5 years in prison, respectively, in the case of the murder of a premature baby. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
According to investigators, in November 2018, Belaya, then acting. about. the chief physician of maternity hospital No. 4 in Kaliningrad, learned from the attendant that a child weighing 700 g was born in the medical facility. As stated in the message of the Investigative Committee, she was aware that the death of the child would negatively affect her upcoming appointment as head physician and therefore decided to kill him by introducing magnesia.
The resuscitator-anaesthesiologist Sushkevich is accused of not taking measures to save him when she arrived at the maternity hospital for a premature baby.
Two years ago, they were already tried in Kaliningrad in the same case, but then the jury returned a verdict of not guilty. The decision was later reversed and the case was sent back for retrial. On August 24, 2022, the jury found the doctors guilty.
